Allison received her BA in Psychology from York University in 2003 under the supervision of Dr. Ron Okada. She went on to complete her Master's in Social Psychology at York, under the supervision of Dr. Jennifer Steele and she is currently a doctoral candidate. Her research focuses on Black racial identity. For her Master’s thesis she examined how Black racial identity predicts cognitive depletion following exposure to racism. For her dissertation, she is examining the relationship between Black racial identity and implicit racial bias, system justification, and strategies for success in Black participants. A secondary line of research she is pursuing examines the social determinants of body dissatisfaction and body type preference. She is interested in pursuing future research on issues surrounding identity and the impact of stereotypes and stigma on behavior and cognition, from the perspective of the targets of prejudice.
